Thomas Keith “Tom” Witmer, 66, passed away peacefully at 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 with his children at his side in his home. He was born on December 28, 1950 in Wolf Lake, IN to Thomas Edison & Betty Eloise (Henwood) Witmer.

He graduated in 1969 from Columbia City High School, attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN and served in the United States Army. He was a lifetime Whitley / Kosciusko County area resident. He was employed at D.R. Smith Trucking in Akron for 5 years, was a farmer, and a lifelong truck driver.

He was a member of the North Webster American Legion Post 253, formerly attended the West Etna Community Church in Larwill, IN, and was known for his unrelenting generosity and kindness.

He is survived by:

2 Daughters – Carisa (Shay) Addison of Syracuse & Katie Beltane of Boise, ID
2 Sons – Josh (Loretta) Witmer of Kekaha, HI & Tobias (Amber Brown) Witmer of Milford
6 Grandchildren
Sister – Cheri (Tom) Settecerri of Colorado Springs, CO

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd. 13 & C.R. 500N, North Webster, IN. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Tim Bushong of Syracuse Baptist Church officiating. Military honors will take place at the funeral home following services. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd 15, Warsaw, IN. Burial will take place at West Etna Cemetery at a later date.

Preferred memorials may be given to the Center for Hospice, 29014 E. Bristol St. Elkhart, IN 46514.
