FAITH L. CRAWFORD, 90, a resident of Columbia Township, died at 1 am Wednesday, August 20, 2008 in the Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.

She was born on July 25, 1918 in Thorncreek Township, Whitley County, a daughter of Oscar and Luella Cooperider Hill. Her formative years were spent on a farm in Thorncreek Township and she was educated in the township schools and graduated from the Columbia city High School in 1936.

She had been employed by the Sherman White Company in Columbia City for several years as a secretary.

On October 9, 1938, she was united in marriage to Jay A. Crawford and they spent their married life on a farm South of Columbia City on Indiana 9. Mr. Crawford died on January 19, 2000.

She was a member of the Oak Grove Church of God; the Whitley County Extension since 1959, holding several county and local offices; served two terms on the Whitley County Extension Advisory Council; member of the Farm Bureau and was District Farm Wife of the Year in 1979-80.

The surviving relatives include a son, Gene L. (Kandy) Crawford, Columbia City; a daughter, Brenda (Carl E.) Kent, Continental, Ohio, six grandchildren, Brandon, Wade, Chad Crawford and Abbey Crawford, Shelly Auch and Todd Kent; nine great grandchildren and a sister, Dorothy Long residing in Wisconsin.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Patricia Ann.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 Saturday in the Smith and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Carroll McNutt and the Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. The burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm Friday at the funeral home.
