He started his training six years ago at Great Lakes Training Station, then was sent to Norfolk, Va., with the next training at Key West, Fla., and at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. After that he was stationed at Corpus Christi, Tex., and got his wings on March 15, 1942, at Pensacola. From there he was transferred to the Pacific Coast, and to Honolulu.

The young officer is survived by his wife, his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Goebel, who reside at 916 Independence street; his mother, who resides in Indiana; and a half-sister; Shirlene Goebel, 14, also of the Independence street address.

Additional info: Was in U.S. Navy as Aviation Pilot Second Class & received a Purple Heart Medal. Listed on the Honolulu Monument (aka Courts of the MIssingn World War II) in Honolulu, Hawaii.
